This last series of paintings utilized elements of paper scrolls with hastily drawn words, usually appearing as secondary themes, or background platitudes which may, or may not, conincide with the principal action of the scene. I started this concept back in 2004 as a means of adding additional subtle meanings to the visual components of the paintings. Sometimes the wording contradicts the model's pose, or other cases reinforces, emphasizes the mood shown.

Here the words promote the persistance of the astronomical sun, which the model represents. Even with all the dangers humanity throws on this planet, in the end, the laws of physics will persist and over time claim back a natural order.

Also, in the color study I particularly wanted to explore a representation of an established icon in a realistic setting. In a manner, demystifying the Greek Titan, showing him as a human subject—yet, at the same time, kneeling in his surroundings of blue tones, the background acts as an emphasises of his position as a symbol for the sun.

Likewise. in the bottom left hand corner rests a celery root; a bulbous vegtable, echoing the circular sphere in the subject's hands. A symbol of growth, nature. It acts as a physical representation of the Earth orbiting the sun.
