Wanderings into the OtherWorld
— in other words, after reading a collection of Welsh folktales, The Mabinogion, strong myth cycles, heavy with dream logic and nightmare realism. The stories flow over the edges with the same qualities of the Greek myths: persistant heroes, distressed madiens, senile kings, and gorey battles.
So of course I fall into the pattern, creating a scene of the warrior Antaeus journeying underground to find the ghost of his father and the golden bough. A traditional figure of myth, the hero, pausing in his quest before the house of the dead before confronting obstacles. |
